Rory is one of the UK’s very few trained and mentored Forest Therapy Guides. Owning one woodland in Fife and managing another, he takes groups and individuals through a structured process of engaging with nature using a multi-sensory approach, with a firm evidence base of international medical research. A typical session would last for three hours, and introduces techniques of engaging deeply with flora and fauna. The session concludes with a Tea Ceremony and Sharing Circle. Intriguingly, Rory has developed processes whereby “nature” can be brought inside to enable diverse groups in schools, hospitals, hospices and prisons to participate.
