BURNS & BELLMAN
Revel in the contradictions of the age with a musical Bill O' Fare celebrating similarity and difference.
We offer a lively and diverting evening of music and poetry bringing together the great popular bards of Scotland and Sweden.
Almost exact contemporaries, Robert Burns and Carl Michael Bellman epitomised the contradictions of the Enlightenment era: both cultured and erudite; both writing exquisitely crafted verse dealing with the earthiest of topics in visceral, immediate language; both falling foul of the vicissitudes of life, and both a little too fond of the bottle. They had plenty to say on the political and social turbulence of their time, and their elegant explorations of the foibles and follies of human life are more relevant in these days of collective uncertainty.
